How many hours of AI analysis does each plan include?
On monthly billing Starter includes 24 hours a month (up to 3 a day), Plus 75 hours a month (up to 10 a day), Pro 225 hours a month (up to 30 a day) and Elite 750 hours a month (up to 100 a day). Yearly billing costs half as much, and the hours follow the price: Starter includes 17 hours a month (up to 2 a day), Plus 52 hours a month (up to 7 a day), Pro 160 hours a month (up to 21 a day) and Elite 535 hours a month (up to 71 a day). An hour of analysis is an hour of footage analyzed by the AI, counted from the length of each video or live clip in your billing period, and deleting a video does not give the hours back. Cameras are analyzed when they see motion, so still hours cost nothing. An hour analyzed with the Pro model uses 6 hours. Each plan also has an AI processing limit per billing period that normal use stays well within; if an account reaches it, analysis pauses until the next billing period or a higher plan. Your dashboard shows how many hours are left in this billing period and today.
What video formats are supported?
We support MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MKV, and WebM formats. Individual files can be up to 500MB with chunked upload support for reliable transfers on any connection.
What is frame-by-frame vs whole video analysis?
Surveillant offers two analysis modes. Frame-by-frame mode uses Smart Sampling to extract key frames at a tier-based FPS rate and analyzes each frame individually with Surveillant AI. Whole video mode sends the complete video to Surveillant AI for holistic analysis, ideal for understanding sequences of events and temporal patterns across the full footage.
What AI models power the analysis?
Surveillant uses our proprietary Surveillant AI vision platform. The Plus tier includes the Surveillant AI Base model for fast, cost-effective analysis. Pro and above unlock Surveillant AI Pro for deeper understanding and more accurate detection. All tiers include transparent token usage tracking so you can monitor AI costs per analysis.
What camera brands are compatible?
Surveillant works with any IP camera that supports RTSP streams or ONVIF protocol. We have verified compatibility with Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, Axis, Bosch, and Hanwha NVR systems. No camera replacement is required. Connect your existing infrastructure directly.
What alert types are available?
The alert rules engine supports 7 rule types: intrusion detection, loitering, abandoned objects, crowd anomaly, object detected, face detected, and custom AI detection prompts. Weapons and smoke or fire are flagged automatically as immediate threats during analysis, without a rule. Anything else you need watched goes into a custom AI prompt in plain English, from the Pro plan up. Intrusion rules watch a marked area of the frame, so they come with the zone-based polygon detection on Elite, together with schedule-based activation and full alert lifecycle management. Email notifications are on every plan, webhook and Slack from Pro up.
How does Smart Sampling work?
Smart Sampling extracts frames at a base rate of 0.05 fps (1 frame every 20 seconds) on every plan, then automatically increases sampling 2-3x when motion or people are detected. This delivers full coverage of security-relevant activity at a fraction of the cost of frame-by-frame analysis. Per-camera FPS overrides are available for fine-tuned control.
How is my data secured?
All data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit. We operate on documented security controls, and we are GDPR-ready. Elite and Enterprise plans include SSO/SAML authentication and advanced access control.
