How Much Does Bosch BVMS Cost?
BVMS, the Bosch Video Management System, uses a classic perpetual license model. You buy one base license for the edition you need, that base license carries a small allowance of cameras, and every camera beyond the allowance needs its own paid camera or decoder expansion license. Unlike Genetec and Verkada, most BVMS part numbers are actually sold openly by US resellers, so you can price a system without waiting for a quote.
At the reseller prices we checked in July 2026, the Professional base license (MBV-BPRO) lists at $4,916.95 and includes eight cameras. Each additional channel (MBV-XCHANPRO) is $179.95. The mid-tier Plus base (MBV-BPLU) is $1,779.95 with channels at $116.50, and the entry Lite and Viewer base licenses are priced at a token amount, with Lite channels at $111.95. So the edition you pick sets a fixed entry fee, and the channel license sets your slope.
The part buyers miss is maintenance. BVMS does not charge one blended maintenance percentage across the system. Bosch sells a separate one-year Software Maintenance Agreement SKU for every license SKU you own: MBV-MPRO covers the Professional base, MBV-MCHANPRO covers each channel expansion at $25.95 per channel per year, MBV-MCHANLIT covers each Lite channel at $19.57, and there are matching SMA parts for map functionality, workstations, and every other option. Most VMS vendors hide behind a quote. BVMS is unusual in that authorized US resellers publish the part numbers with prices attached, so you can build a budget yourself. What a 50-Camera BVMS Professional System Costs
Fifty cameras is the size where most buyers start asking whether an enterprise VMS is worth it. Here is the arithmetic using the street prices above, for software licensing only. The base license covers the first eight cameras, so you buy 42 expansion channels.
Before servers, storage arrays, cameras, network, configuration labor, or any add-on functionality license.
Maintenance is optional in the sense that the perpetual license keeps working, but you lose version upgrades and support without it.
The line item that surprises people
Read the BVMS ordering information closely and you will see that maintenance is not a single system-wide agreement. There is a dedicated one-year SMA part number for the base license, another for the camera channel expansion, another for the workstation expansion, another for the online map functionality, another for the map-based tracking assistant, and so on. Each one is ordered in the exact quantity of the licenses it covers. That is fine for a purchasing department that likes granular line items, and it is a nasty surprise for anyone who budgeted one flat percentage and then got a renewal quote with sixty rows on it.
Which BVMS Edition Do You Actually Need?
Picking the wrong edition is the most expensive mistake in a BVMS purchase, because the ceiling is hard. Plus stops at 256 cameras and 10 workstations. Bosch Does Not Own BVMS Anymore. It Is Becoming Iqsight.
If you are budgeting a BVMS purchase against a five year or ten year horizon, this is the single most important fact on this page, and almost no comparison article mentions it.
The European investment firm Triton agreed in December 2024 to buy Bosch Building Technologies' video, access and intrusion, and communications business areas. The sale completed on June 30, 2025, effective July 1, 2025, and the acquired business now trades as Keenfinity Group. It employs more than 4,200 people, generated roughly one billion euros of revenue in 2024, and manufactures in Straubing, Ovar, Hermosillo, and Zhuhai. Keenfinity's own announcement described the entity renaming as a change in name only, not a change in ownership or operations of the products themselves.
The product brands are changing too. Keenfinity has launched Iqsight as the brand and business unit for camera surveillance and intelligent video analytics, with the video products moving to Iqsight and the intrusion and access control lines moving to Radionix, effective January 1, 2026. Industry coverage notes that the Bosch name stays visible during a transition period and that part numbers are not changing at this point.
You can already see it in the channel. US reseller catalogs now list the same MBV part numbers under the label "IQsight by Bosch," and the old commerce.boschsecurity.com product URLs redirect through catalog.boschbuildingtechnologies.com to commerce.keenfinity.tech, which requires a partner login to see a price.
- Your license still works. A perpetual BVMS license is perpetual. Nothing about the transaction switches it off.
- Ask who signs the SMA. Multi-year maintenance and support commitments are worth confirming in writing with the entity that will actually be your counterparty, not the one on the logo.
- Expect naming churn in documentation. Datasheets, portals, and training material will move to the Iqsight name over the transition. Bookmark part numbers, not URLs.
- Private equity ownership changes roadmap incentives. That is not automatically bad, but it is a reason to ask harder questions about the product roadmap and price escalation clauses than you would have asked Bosch in 2023.
