There is a detail here that most write-ups miss. The bag check tradition in American cinemas did not begin as a weapons measure at all. It came out of anti-piracy work: the industry best practices that pushed operators toward random bag and jacket checks were written to stop camcorders and recording devices getting into auditoriums. Multiply that by the entrances on a 16-screen box and the reason theaters chose cameras and bag checks becomes obvious.

The consequence for buyers: because the industry declined to screen, the camera is the only always-on security layer in a typical movie theater. That is the strongest argument for putting AI on it, and it is also the reason to be precise about what camera AI can and cannot see.
